    Description

    five
    Pennsylvania Railroad Company
    freight manifests, 1888 - 1889
This is a group of 5 used PRR freight forms from
    over 120 years ago
. They are completed in ink, all dated in 1888 or 1889 under the billing name of J. B. Henry, at the Milroy Station of the Pennsylvania rail system. They show the amounts of freight the customer is being billed for, the rates and their bill. One is made out for pea coal from Nanticoke; one for coal from the (?-illegible) Colliery; one for bags of wheat flour from Philadelphia; one for sacks of flour from Lewistown; and one for pea coal from Movauaqua. Four are signed by J.H. Spousler, Agent, for the railroad, acknowledging receipt of payment.
They measure 4.5 x 8.25 inches in size and are in moderately worn condition, with some edgewear, light creasings and slight browning from age, plus pin-prick holes in their center from having been stuck on a holder in the business office where they were handled.
Each of the five freight forms are shown in the photos below.
